I am a 60+ year old empty-nester mother of two sons, grandmother of five, who resides
in the Pacific Northwest with my husband of 26 years. My name is Sandy,
but friends and family just call me Sam. Consider yourself a friend. I graduated from high School in Missouri, moved to Alabama and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1965. I did my boot camp training at Parris Island, SC in February and March of 1965 and was in Platoon 2A. (I would love to hear from members of the platoon.) I was the platoon honor graduate and received my dress blues and a meritorious promotion to PFC upon graduation. (Vicki Kubat, if you are out there, I always thought you should have received that distinction). Due to a knee injury, I had to take an honorable discharge in 1966. I am currently a disabled veteran. After the military, I completed 3 years of college. I am a former hotel general manager who is now retired. I enjoy time in my garden, at the computer and with our pets. My passions are my family, writing and web design. I am a published author of western fiction with Blade McAllister released last year (see the link below). And am an officer with our local AMVETS veteran's organization. The Marine Corps had one of the biggest impacts on my life and I hope you will enjoy my trip down memory lane |
